DOOH preview: simulate digital ad surfaces realistically

Digital surfaces run in a loop, stand in changing light and have formats of their own. A still frame says little about that. The DOOH preview puts your moving creative onto real footage – and hands you an MP4 you can send on.

What makes digital surfaces different

On a printed large-format poster, one image decides. On a digital surface, a sequence decides: how long the spot runs, when the message lands, what is left standing at the end. A preview that does not show this checks only half the campaign.

Then there is the format. A digital screen in a station concourse has a different aspect ratio from an LED wall on a façade. Creatives built for landscape often lose exactly the part that matters when they go portrait.

And finally the light. An LED surface emits light itself; dark areas behave differently than on paper and fine contrasts disappear. That, too, only becomes visible in a real environment.

What the DOOH preview covers

  • Moving image instead of a still

Your spot runs on the surface inside the footage – at the pace and the length it will have later.

  • Formats and crop

The surface dictates shape and size. You see immediately what survives in each format.

  • Impact in context

Passers-by, ambient light and neighbouring surfaces are part of it – the surface never stands alone.

  • MP4 to pass on

The result is a video in HD. It goes straight into the presentation, the proposal or the approval e-mail.

Frequently asked questions about the DOOH preview

How does DOOH differ from classic out-of-home?
Digital surfaces show moving image in a loop and share the surface with other creatives. Instead of a single image you are checking a sequence: length, pace and the moment at which the message stands.
Which formats are supported?
The shape and size of the display area are part of the product. Landscape, portrait and special formats are all possible; the creative is fitted into the surface rather than forced into a fixed aspect ratio.
How long can the spot be?
That is dictated by the booking, not by the software. A few seconds per pass is usual – which is exactly why it is worth checking whether the message lands in that time at all.
Do we get a file to pass on?
Yes, an export as MP4 in HD. For still creatives as a JPG instead.
Can our own digital surfaces be filmed?
Yes. Video and 360° products need shoots on location and are quoted separately; existing photo surfaces are migrated free of charge for new customers.
